Pregnancy Reflexology

Relaxation during pregnancy is important for mother and child. Maternity Reflexology aims to optimise the physical and emotional health of the mum to be and can relieve many of the common symptoms brought on by pregnancy.

Reflexology reduces your stress levels and therefore the possibility of complications during pregnancy. It’s also a great way to prepare your body for birth naturally by helping to relax the pelvic area.

Studies* show that women who have reflexology during pregnancy:

  • Have significantly less pain during labour

  • Experience shorter first stage labour

  • Sleep better post pregnancy

Regular treatments can help to manage, prevent and relieve many symptoms experienced during pregnancy, including;

  • Constipation

  • Discomfort

  • Heartburn

  • Swollen feet and legs

  • Itching

  • Pelvic and lower back pain

  • Dizziness

  • Headaches

  • Tiredness and breathlessness

Reflexology is not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy due to a lack of research in the field.

I would recommend monthly treatments throughout the second and third trimester with weekly treatments from 36 or 37 weeks until when your baby is born.

One session can be a wonderful relaxing treatment for an expectant mum and make a great gift; if you are looking to prepare for labour then I would recommend a minimum of three weekly treatments prior to your due date.
